Hello!

My name is Marina and I warmly welcome you to my Pilates classes. My classes are friendly and inclusive and cater for all ability levels in an atmosphere that is calm and serene. I really look forward to meeting you and helping you toward your fitness goals.

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a very safe, slow and controlled total body strengthening exercise which works the deep core muscles which support the framework of the body. So there’s no jumping, or leaping, or strenuous twisting and definitely no heart-racing HIIT involved!

Pilates also focusses on mobility and flexibility in the joints which works over a period of time to improve posture and mobility. Something we all should take care of as we enter our Autumn and Winter years…but also as a regular antidote to the daily demands our work lives place on our bodies…whatever our age!

Pilates involves synchronising the breathing pattern with the movements of each exercise which sets Pilates apart from a visit to the gym… It is a holistic type of exercise …the focus on breathing in time with the movement creates a mind body connection. This in turn makes Pilates restorative and calming but also refreshing and energizing too… a winning combination!

" Change happens through movement and movement heals.”

– Joseph Pilates

What are my classes like?

My classes are small so that I can give everyone the necessary attention and support throughout the programme. This also helps me to discreetly deliver the adaptations to the exercises for your personal plan.

My classes are friendly and inclusive, all are welcome whatever your current fitness level. Every exercise is delivered with different levels of challenge, so that you feel comfortable to select an option that is suitable for you on any given day… as we all know, some days are better than others! This way everyone can feel that they are making their own personal progress and working at the pace that’s best for them.

I have endeavoured to create a tranquil environment for my classes to provide an escape from the daily stresses of life, a sanctuary of calm for you to completely relax and tune in to your own body. I like to enhance each session with aromatherapy oils gently diffusing into the atmosphere and complimentary music to engage the senses and leave you feeling refreshed and energised.

“You will feel better in ten sessions, look better in twenty sessions, and have a completely new body in thirty sessions.”

– Joseph Pilates

FAQs

Many people find that bringing their own mat is really beneficial to their enjoyment of the class, since you can choose the thickness level for yourself, it can help in alleviating pressure on the knees and spine while performing the exercises. However, some people find a thinner mat more suitable for them! It’s a personal matter for you to choose what works best for you!

I always have spare mats should you ever forget your own though, so don’t worry!

Soft, comfortable, stretchy clothing would be ideal… preferably without any zips, buttons or hoods, to allow your body to move freely. The movements are performed bare foot or with socks, so there is no need for you to wear trainers.

No. My classes are designed to allow everyone to participate, from complete beginner to advanced levels.

Pilates movements can be adjusted to suit everyone’s abilities. Right from the very first class you will feel completely at home and comfortable. Any modifications to help you join in will be delivered discreetly.

The truth is that everyone has their own unique strengths and weaknesses, even those who’ve been practising Pilates for years. We all have injuries that we’ve picked up along the way, health issues to combat, and just the way we are made, we all have our imperfections! Thankfully, Pilates is the perfect exercise to cater for everyone’s individual body make-up. So, never feel that you are the only one making adjustments in the class, chances are that you will find there’s someone else making the exact same adjustments you are…

No, however, it is advisable to bring your own mat as you will know what thickness of mat suits you best.  I always have spare mats should you forget your own, and these are fully sanitised after each use.

Please bring your own water bottle.

Pilates equipment such as, small Pilates balls, weighted balls, Pilates rings and blocks are all provided and are fully sanitised after each session.

There’s plenty of parking on-site!

Just a quick note from me…

Thank you for visiting my website, I hope it’s helped you to decide to give my Pilates classes a try. If there’s anything you’d like to ask me, please feel free to get in touch and I’d be delighted answer any questions you may have.

I truly believe that taking the time out of our busy schedules to invest in our own fitness and wellbeing is worth the effort. Pilates combines physically strengthening the body while breathing in harmony with the flowing movements; this calms and revitalises the mind.

In these difficult times it’s hard to squeeze in time to look after yourself, I know… we all put others first before ourselves…juggling work commitments, caring for children and aging parents… that’s just the reality… but believe me the investment in yourself is worth it, and with your own wellbeing refreshed and restored you will emerge a more energised and strong individual…able to carry the cares of others with a little more spring in your step.  And by you taking care of you, you can rest assured that you are doing so in order to be the very best version of yourself for many years to come; for those who you love… and those who love you…
